About today

Today in class we started learning about persuasive techniques and persuasive language. We talked to Morgan on skype who is the owner of an advertising company and he talked to us about persuasive techniques and ICTs. Afterwards we talked about persuasive techniques used on breakfast cereal packages because we will be creating our own over the next five weeks. The teacher showed us a breakfast cereal package on and we wrote a paragraph identifying some of the persuasive techniques used and then copy and pasted it to our blog. The teacher told us we can write on our blog about what we learn during the five weeks. We also learnt about online etiquette and that we should be careful about what we read online and also that we should only write nice and positive comments on other people blogs.

Persuasive Techniques Paragraph

I think the breakfast cereal is aimed at kids and parents. The package has lots of bright colours and bold letter which attracts the audiences' attention. There are noun groups like "yummy, crunchy energy bites" and this persuasive language makes it sound like it would taste good and give you lots of energy. There were facts like "30% of your protein needs" and this makes the audience think that the cereal will be healthy for you. I think that this fact would be aimed at parents.
