Finished!

Today I finally completed my IMovie and my last job was to put it on my blog. The teacher told us the easiest way to to this was to upload it to YouTube then embed it to my blog. This was sort of hard, but our teacher took us through each step. I am so happy with my final product and cant wait to show my parents tonight!

Breakfast Cereal Package - Adobe Photoshop

Image created by Jesse Miller

We have been learning to use Adobe Photoshop to create our breakfast cereal package designs using our drafts as a guide. It was hard to use at first but after I played around with all the options and the teacher showed us how to use the program I now find it easy to use. I am really happy with the final product. Now I have to write my promotional speech and create an IMoive using this package design with my voice.

Resizing Images

Today we learnt how to take a picture of our draft and resize it so that we could post it on our blog. We looked at each others drafts during the lesson and talked about how we could improve them. Afterward we wrote a positives, minus and interesting table on word then uploaded it as a post to our blog. At the end of the lesson the teacher gave us the names of two other students and told us that we are to go onto their blogs and comment on their draft. The teacher reminded us that we should only leave positive or constructive comments. Then we talked about what sort of comments we could leave about peoples drafts that we had looked at today.

PMI

Positive
Minus
Interesting
·      I have used lots of colour and bold words to attract the audience
·      I have used interesting noun groups like “Delicious wholegrain wheat”
·      I have used persuasive techniques like commands “Hurry while stocks last”
·      I have used facts like “Gluten Free” and “full of Calcium”
·      I have included a promotional free toy to persuade customers to but the product
·      I have used alliteration like “Chewy Choco”
·      I have lots of spelling mistakes
·      I could use more colours
·      I think I have too much information, which might confuse the audience.
·      When I create my design on Adobe Photoshop it will help me to fix my spelling mistakes and also make it look much better and neater.

About today

Today in class we started learning about persuasive techniques and persuasive language. We talked to Morgan on skype who is the owner of an advertising company and he talked to us about persuasive techniques and ICTs. Afterwards we talked about persuasive techniques used on breakfast cereal packages because we will be creating our own over the next five weeks. The teacher showed us a breakfast cereal package on and we wrote a paragraph identifying some of the persuasive techniques used and then copy and pasted it to our blog. The teacher told us we can write on our blog about what we learn during the five weeks. We also learnt about online etiquette and that we should be careful about what we read online and also that we should only write nice and positive comments on other people blogs.

Persuasive Techniques Paragraph

I think the breakfast cereal is aimed at kids and parents. The package has lots of bright colours and bold letter which attracts the audiences' attention. There are noun groups like "yummy, crunchy energy bites" and this persuasive language makes it sound like it would taste good and give you lots of energy. There were facts like "30% of your protein needs" and this makes the audience think that the cereal will be healthy for you. I think that this fact would be aimed at parents.
